My Story

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d one day be writing these words. If you’d met me just a few years ago, you certainly wouldn’t have guessed I’d be here either. Yet by God’s grace, after surrendering my life to Jesus Christ, everything changed.
If you’d met me a few years ago, you wouldn’t have met someone who was searching for another religion or feeling spiritually empty. Quite the opposite. I considered myself deeply spiritual. I loved spirituality, asking questions, and pursuing what I believed was truth. I genuinely thought I’d found it.
Looking back, I can see that although I was feeding myself spiritually, it wasn’t with the Bread of Life. I had become full on what I can only describe as spiritual junk food, never realising there was a feast waiting for me in Jesus Christ.

“That’s the beautiful thing about following Jesus – He has a way of taking lives we never imagined and transforming them for His glory.”
I had no idea Jesus was standing at the door, patiently knocking, inviting me into relationship with Him.
Jesus says:
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me." (Revelation 3:20)
Looking back, I can see that although I considered myself deeply spiritual, I wasn’t sitting at Christ’s table. I was feeding on a spirituality that felt loving, peaceful and full of light, yet it wasn’t leading me to Him.
That was one of the hardest truths for me to accept. Scripture tells us that “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14)
I always imagined deception would look obviously dark or evil. Instead, I discovered that the most convincing counterfeits are often those that resemble the truth. They borrow enough of what is good to feel familiar, while quietly leading us away from the One who is Truth.
Satan doesn’t need to invent an entirely new truth. He is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44), and one of his oldest tactics is to distort what God has already said. From the Garden of Eden onward, the deception has often been subtle – not replacing God’s truth entirely, but twisting it just enough to lead people away from Him.
And then September 2023 something strange started happening. Around the same time, two seemingly small things collided. My YouTube algorithm randomly showed me a testimony from someone who had left the New Age to follow Jesus. Then my fiancé told me that his tattoo artist, John – a man I’d never even met, had started following Jesus too. I honestly can’t remember which happened first. But I remember what happened inside me:
My curiosity and hunger went through the roof.
Why Jesus?
What had these people discovered that would make them leave everything they had believed behind and follow Him? And if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love going down a rabbit hole. Give me something mysterious, controversial or potentially hidden beneath the surface and I want to investigate it for myself.
So Jesus Christ became my next investigation.
Who was He really?
Why did people believe He was the Messiah? Why did He die for my sins and what does that even mean? Could the Bible actually be trusted? Did He really exist? Did He really die and rise from the dead? Was Christianity true or was this simply another belief system people had been conditioned to accept?
I had questions. Lots of them.
Initially, I wasn’t asking them because I wanted Christianity to be true. I was trying to pull it apart. However, I quickly realised something uncomfortable:
I had no leg to stand on.
I had opinions about Christianity, but I’d never actually investigated Christianity for myself. I knew Bible stories as a small child, but I’d never sat down as an adult and read the Bible. So I bought one.
I watched videos. I listened to testimonies. I researched. I questioned. I challenged. I went further and further down the rabbit hole of Jesus Christ.
Except this rabbit hole wasn’t doing what I expected it to do. The more I investigated Him, the harder He became to dismiss. Eventually I found myself facing a question that changed everything:
What if this is actually real?
What if Jesus really is the truth?
Looking back, it’s the only way I know how to describe it, as though a veil had been lifted from my eyes. The same Bible I had once approached with scepticism suddenly came alive. Passages I had read before now spoke directly to my heart, exposing things in me I had never seen and revealing the beauty of Jesus Christ in a way I can’t fully explain.
It wasn’t simply that I understood the words differently. Scripture began to expose my own heart. It cut straight to the core of who I was, challenged me, comforted me, and slowly started transforming me from the inside out.
Before long, I found myself doing something I never expected. I would read about Jesus and be moved to tears. The more I came to know Him, the more I realised that Christianity wasn’t just another belief system or philosophy. It was an invitation into a relationship with the living God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
For me, the Bible was no longer just a book to be analysed. It had become the living Word of God, and once my eyes had been opened to Christ, I couldn’t unsee what He had revealed.
After around eighteen months of seriously investigating who Jesus is, I reached a point where I could no longer stand on the fence. In 2025, I made the decision to be baptised, not as a religious tradition, but as a public declaration that my old life had died with Christ and that I wanted to follow Him wholeheartedly for the rest of my life.
But something else had begun to weigh heavily on my heart.
I couldn’t stop thinking about how wrong I had been.
For so many years I had heard about Jesus, believed certain things about Him, and even at times called myself a Christian simply because I had been christened as a baby. Yet I had never truly known Him.
That realisation was deeply humbling. Then another thought began to consume me.
If I had misunderstood Jesus for so much of my life, how many other people had too?
I looked around at the people I loved most, my family, my friends, and the world around me and I realised that many of us know about Jesus without ever truly knowing Him. I had spent years embracing what I believed was love and light, never recognising that there was a counterfeit drawing my attention away from the One who called Himself “The Light Of The World.”
I realised the greatest gift I could ever give someone else would be to point them to the truth of Jesus Christ.
That’s why Walk in Renewal exists. Not because I have all the answers. Not because I’m holier than thou. But because Jesus Christ changed the direction of my life, and I want to spend the rest of it helping others know Him more deeply, follow Him more faithfully, and discover the life that is found in Him alone.
Every area.
Every season.
Every step.
Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
Let’s Keep Walking Together
Walk in Renewal is just getting started, and I’d love for you to come along.
